Project ASHA Lauches Sheros Craft Academy in Ajegunle

Today was a remarkable day for us all at Project ASHA and the Ajegunle community as 15 young women, who have worked tirelessly, got the chance to exhibit and sell their crafts.

The feedback was/is very encouraging. We are already filling orders from the UK and South Africa.

Though we launched the Sheros Craft Initiative with just 15 girls, we are aware of the multiplier effect. We empower a Girl to change her community. The possibilities that would result from these trailblazing Sheros are limitless. We believe that much in them.

To ensure sustainable impact, we always encourage change to come from within. We call it Gain-Buy-In.

Joy - one of the Sheros, had this to say: “The pride I feel after selling something I made is priceless. I can’t believe somebody actually bought something I made with these hands…”

Another, Miracle, speaking about contributing to our Girls Empowerment Centre, said: “I will protect it because I contributed to buying them. I worked hard for it.”

This is the kind of spirit ASHA promotes.

Our gratitude goes to the Baale of the Ajegunle community, Chief M.A.O Oladunjoye and his cabinet; members of the community and our trailblazing, pathfinding Sheros for allowing us come in and achieve so much in partnership with them; Mrs Bola Olugboye and her very kind friends; The LovelynClair Show, AfrodisiacBay; MTN Foundation; Mrs Olayinka Akanni; Mrs Sherifat Aminashaun; Ms Tomi Awolesi Ajayi; Mr Faustinus Njoku; Mr Jude Nnabuife, Mr Fisayo Soyombo and volunteers and of course, YOU!

Because you showed up, you supported and gave, we achieved. We thank you.

You are a pioneer, an integral part of something bigger than you or I. Posterity remembers.

We wish you the very best this season as we continue Inspiring Hope and Transforming Lives.
