Project Red Dot
Ending Period Poverty. Restoring Dignity. Empowering Girls.
Menstruation should never be a barrier to education, dignity, or opportunity. Yet for millions of girls and women, period poverty remains a harsh reality — limiting school attendance, affecting health, and reinforcing stigma and inequality.
Project Red Dot is ASHA’s initiative dedicated to tackling menstrual health challenges and breaking the silence around periods through education, advocacy, and access to essential hygiene products.
Why Project Red Dot Matters
Many girls miss school every month because they cannot afford sanitary products or lack access to safe facilities. In underserved communities, misinformation, stigma, and cultural taboos further isolate girls during menstruation.
The consequences include:
Increased school absenteeism
Higher dropout rates
Poor menstrual hygiene management
Reduced self-esteem and confidence
Health risks due to unsafe alternatives
Project Red Dot addresses these issues head-on.
