ASHA Lagos Meet Up


The ASHA Lagos meetup hosted advocates, entrepreneurs and 2016 Mandela Washington Fellows.

This was an informal gathering that allowed young people discuss, relax and deliberate on issues that affects nation building and youths participation in the socio-political affairs of Nigeria.

Ms.Antonia Abayomi-Ojo, a 2016 fellow shared her experience at the Mandela Washington Fellowship.

Prominent among her takeaways was how to prepare and deliver an elevator pitch. She also shared tips on how to do a perfect elevator pitch, inviting the audience to try out theirs, giving them a chance to be reviewed by their peers.

Mr Gideon-Lasgidi Odigie, also in attendance, stressed collaboration is necessary for success. Continuing, he said partnership amongst youths is expedient for the growth of the country.

Mrs Tosin Bankole, a fashion designer who is married with two children. Shared her experience living with disability, and how it hasn't stopped her from reaching her goals.

While encouraging attitudinal changes, she said her greatest challenges is not with living with disability, but her greatest challenge is dealing with peoples insensitity and lack of accessible environments.
