Menstruation is a natural part of life, yet millions of girls and women in Nigeria face shame, stigma, and hardship simply because they lack access to menstrual hygiene products. Imagine missing school or work because sanitary pads are unaffordable. Sadly, this is the reality for 37 million women and girls across Nigeria, a crisis known as period poverty.

Period Poverty Kills Potentials

Period poverty refers to the lack of access to menstrual products, proper sanitation facilities, and menstrual health education. It affects not only the ability to manage periods but also impacts mental and physical health, education, dignity, and future opportunities. Globally, over 500 million people experience period poverty, and Nigeria is among the hardest-hit countries due to economic instability and high cost of menstrual products.

Many girls miss up to five days of school each month because of their periods, adding up to nearly two months of lost learning per year. Over time, this leads to lower academic performance, higher dropout rates, and limited future opportunities. Without access to proper products, girls often resort to using unhygienic alternatives like rags, tissue paper, or newspapers, exposing themselves to infections and reproductive health risks.

Let’s Act Now with Red Dot

Project Asha is bringing back Project Red Dot to restore dignity, confidence, and hope by providing thousands of girls in Nigeria with menstrual hygiene products, proper education, and emotional support. Menstrual Hygiene Day is coming up on May 28, 2025, and we are taking action to champion collective menstrual support for girls in need.

Our mission is simple: every girl deserves the menstrual products she needs to stay in school, feel confident, and thrive; one pack at a time.

We are working alongside schools, community leaders, and local organizations to identify girls in underserved areas and provide them with menstrual kits, health education, and support. Your donation directly funds the purchase and distribution of sanitary pads to vulnerable communities.

Our Goals:

  • Ensure safe and hygienic menstrual care

  • Reduce school absenteeism due to lack of sanitary products

  • Provide menstrual health education to end stigma

  • Improve overall physical and emotional well-being for girls and women

Support us and change a girl's life.
