Announcing The Vweta Chadwick Poetry Prize Top 12 Finalists


We are excited to announce the top twelve(12) contestant on the Vweta Chadwick Poetry prize. They will be contending at the grand finale for #500,000.00 worth of cash prize.


All poems were reviewed anonymously and fairly. Following the high competitive entries and the tough selection process, our judges enjoyed reviewing all the beautiful entries. Here are the judges pick in no particular order;


Senior Category:


  • Fibromyalgia and Some Happiness - Alekwe Joy

  • Feral - Obasiota Ibe

  • Eyes Tell No Lie - Mercy Eloebhose

  • Transcend into the Impossible - Chinwenite Onyekwelu

  • I find Silence - Aanuoluwa Soneye

  • Forced Sterilization - Chiadikobi Paul

  • Congenital Anomaly - Ayomide Famurewa

  • Paralysis - Etinyeneobong Udofia

  • Cynosure of beauty - Favour Idaka.

  • Mercy Mercy - ??

  • Lines - Favour Fatokun

  • Borrowed Dreams - Deborah Afeare Adesuwa

One winner for the Junior Category will be announced on the day of the prize event along with the winners from the senior category.


At the award event, finalists are expected to perform their entry poem or a new poem, and read or recite any of Vweta's poems. Poems at the final event must be carefully done with an eye for editorial standard.

All shortlisted participants must send a high resolution headshot photo and their final entry poem(for those choosing to do new poems) to vwetapoetryprize@gmail.com on or before 26th July 2022

Selfies, or blurry images are strongly discouraged.
